Bowled over by cricketing show in Kineton

When Kineton Amateur Dramatic Society director Linda Synge wanted to stage the comedy Outside Edge, she was concerned at the long list of cricket props and the bat wielding skills.

Stepping up to the crease was Paul Richardson, a long time member of the group and coach at Kineton Cricket Club.

Not only has the club lent all manner of cricket paraphernalia including pads, helmets, bats, cricket photos, trophies and not least a scoreboard!

A spokesman for the group said: “Paul has also been very helpful in training the cast in how to hold and use a cricket bat, and explaining the cricket references in the script.

In exchange any members of the Cricket Club or the Kineton Sports and Social association will be able to buy a reduced price ticket for the performances from Thursday to Saturday April 6 to 8 at Kineton Village Hall.

A final collaboration involves the local Pavilion Cafe down the road at Lighthorne where we are all going for lunch after a hard morning taking down the set after the show. The cafe is actually a Cricket Pavilion on a cricket pitch so it seemed just the right place to round the project off.
