Music of John Williams celebrated at Blenheim

His music has become synonymous with some of the greatest moments in cinema history.

And organisers of this year’s Nocturne concert series at Blenheim Palace have announced that now the work of John Williams will be celerbated at the stately home on Thursday June 15.

Having provided scores for more than 100 films, Williamsis one of the world’s great film composers and has been nominated for 50 Academy Awards over the course of an illustrious career spanning more than five decades.

The concert, performed by the 70-piece Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestr and conducted by Robert Ziegler, will feature an array of Williams’ work including music from many of his most famous film scores, such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Star Wars.

Steven Spielberg said of his work: “Without question, John Williams has been the single most significant contributor to my success as a filmmaker.”

The Best Of John Williams joins award-winning composer Max Richter (June 16), Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter and Corinne Bailey Rae (June 17) and The Jacksons and Kool & The Gang (June 18) on this year’s bill.
