Banbury Operatic Society in rehearsal for Six of the Best

Lovers of musicals across the decades are in for a treat at the next Banbury Operatic Society concert.

Six of the Best will feature excerpts from six much-loved West End hit shows: The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Crazy for You, My Fair Lady, Evita and Les Miserables.

Showcasing the range of talent within the society, from seasoned performers to its newest members, each of the cast of 32 feature in a variety of roles across the programme.

Society spokeswoman Ruth Wilkie said: “Six of the Best is designed to appeal to a wide range of fans of musical theatre.

“Audiences will enjoy a concert overflowing with wonderful melodies and will head off home with their heads so full of iconic songs, the biggest dilemma will be which tune to hum first!”

The production team is David Hornsby and Sharon Smith, with musical director Gill Holliday who, along with Ben Coleman, produced the well-received West End Magical Mystery Tour concert in October 2015. They will be supported by choreographer Alison Hallford.

Six of the Best will be performed at Marlborough Road Methodist Church, Banbury, on Friday, March 3, at 7.30pm, and Saturday, March 4, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
