Brackley Players return next week with their annual pantomime, the swashbuckling, time travelling extravaganza, Pirates of Atlantis.

Packed with traditional pantomime fun, this modern show opens in the ancient underworld city of Atlantis, where the wicked Princess Sharkina and her henchman the Pirate Chief Red Rhumm are aiming for world domination.

Meanwhile on the HMS Scuttle, Captain Augustus Cutlass, his crew and the ship’s cook, Purdy Peppercorn, are sailing to capture Red Rhumm and his band of brigands and thwart their plan to take over the planet.

Director Ray Haresign explained: “It’s family friendly and it’s different and new.

“The scene goes from Atlantis to Portsmouth to on-board HMS Scuttle so there is plenty going on as it shifts through time and space.”

Mr Haresign says the Brackley Players are looking forward to bringing the show to their audience.

“It’s looking very good so far and the tickets are going very well,” he said.

This family friendly show features performers from local schools and the Brackley based Insane Dance company.

Music comes in the form of singing and keyboard accompaniment and there will be plenty of dancing.

Replete with mermaids, sea urchins and a sea monster, Pirates from Atlantis promises to be a smash hit for all the family and a magical treat to start off the New Year.

The Brackley Players perform a pantomime and a production each year and will be staging a version of hit play Abigail’s Party in May.

They also produce an annual series of one-act plays to raise money for the Brackley town mayor’s charities.

Pirates from Atlantis shows at Magdalen College School, Waynflete Avenue, Brackley, on Thursday, January 30 and Friday, January 31 at 7.30pm and Saturday, February 1 at 2.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £8 for adults and £5 for concessions.

They are available from Davies and Partners estate agents in Market Place, Brackley, or by calling 01280 702867.
