Cropredy’s Brasenose Arms will host a diverse array of musical talent this month.
On Saturday the pub welcomes Clayton Denwood to the village.
Orginally from Canada, Clayton went to New York and appeared on stage and in studio with the likes of Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko and the other members of The Band (Jimmy Weider and Randy Ciarlante). He also appeared on the same bills with NRBQ, Joe Henry, Dave Van Ronk, Paul McMahon, Chris Smithers and the Hothouse Flower.
A week later on February 22, guitarist Guy Tortora will play a selection of acoustic and electronic pieces from the influences he looked up to when he was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s.
On both acoustic and electric guitars he plays finger style and is a fine bottleneck and slide player. His playing is not the flashy guitar-slinger style beloved of bluesrockers everywhere, but understated, and leaves room for the songs to make an impact.
Entry to both gigs is free, and they start at 9.30pm. Visit www.brasenosearms.co.uk/music.
