The Playhouse will celebrate the end of a three-year programme of refurbishment at a special gala performance of Peter Pan in Scarlet.

Premium tickets for that evening’s performance of the world-premiere production, the official sequel to JM Barrie’s classic tale, will include a canape reception and drinks with the celebrity couple, other VIPs and the cast.

Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack said in a statement: “We are delighted to celebrate the refurbishment of a theatre we are all so fortunate to have - the Oxford Playhouse.”

Playhouse chief executive Louise Chantal said: “It’s wonderful that long-time friends of the Playhouse Jeremy and Sinead can join us to celebrate the opening of the new auditorium.”

Tickets for the evening are on sale at £99.

The e production is based on the best-selling novel by three-times Whitbread Children’s Book Award winner and writer, Geraldine McCaughrean. It is directed by Theresa Heskins, a theatre maker with a reputation for adapting epic novels and turning them into shows enjoyed by people of all ages.

Peter Pan in Scarlet is a swashbuckling summertime treat packed with storytelling and live music.
