Fresh from its third anniversary last Wednesday, Banbury’s alternative music venue AKA is hosting its biggest band.
Indie darlings Little Comets, who hail from Tyne and Wear, will play a free gig at the Parsons Street venue tomorrow (Friday) with support from local bands Pixel Fix, Molly Davies and Zuzu.
Sam Jackson, promotions manager at AKA, said hosting such a band shows just how far the venue has come over the past three years: “It’s just great to have such an established band coming back to the venue,” he said.
AKA last hosted Little Comets in July 2012 and since then they have released their second album, Life is Elsewhere, signed a deal in the US and toured the US multiple times. The last time the band played locally was at the 1,000 capacity Oxford 02 Academy 1.
Signed to Dirty Hit records in the UK, the band’s sound has been described as ‘kitchen sink indie’ owing to the fact the group use pots, pans and kitchen implements as makeshift percussion. Judge for yourselves tomorrow!
