The first budget proposals outlined by Oxfordshire County Council today (Friday) revealed the council is looking at withdrawing the remaining annual £80,000 grant to Banbury’s Mill Arts Centre.
Councillor Lorraine Lindsay Gale said: “The Mill Arts Centre already raises a substantial level of income and is working towards complete financial independence. We will be working closely with them over the next three years to ensure that they achieve their goal and will no longer require funding from the county council.”
Changes to the way the Mill operates were introduced in April after Oxfordshire County Council cut £90,000 from the centre’s annual budget. Its £190,000 budget had been largely used to employ staff and to maintain the building.
