BODY cameras being used by police in Banbury are getting quick results.
Footage from one of the mini video cameras – used for the first time at the weekend – has already forced a man to plead guilty to charges of assault, resisting arrest, and actual bodily harm against a police officer.
Banbury officers are the first in Thames Valley to use the "bodycams", which strap on to their uniforms at chest height.
It includes a lightweight digital camera mounted on an officer's uniform which transmits images through a cable to a small digital video recorder worn on the officer's belt.
The camera also has a microphone and works equally well during the day and night.
