THE police commander in charge of overseeing the Queen's visit to Banbury today (November 27) has released a statement.
Chief superintendent Jim Trotman said: "From a policing perspective the operation went very successfully and officers and staff from Thames Valley Police were pleased to have been able to help the royal visit go so smoothly.
"We estimate there were 4,000 to 5,000 people in Banbury town centre this morning and I would like to thank the public for coming out in large numbers and giving the Queen and the Duke a good reception in such an orderly and good spirited way."
