The rapid NISMO Athlete and Nissan GT Academy Team RJN team-mate Ricardo Sánchez are targeting a top three end-of-year placing in the Silver Cup standings.
Climbing into fourth place in the championship on the category’s first ever appearance in Hungary, the duo head into the fifth and final race meeting of the Sprint Cup campaign in Spain just six points shy of the top three and only 13 points outside the runner-up spot.
Walkinshaw said: “We don’t know how the Nissan will go in Barcelona but we’re determined to end the Sprint Cup as strongly as we can.
“It’s been a challenging year overall, the Sprint Cup has been tougher for us than the Endurance Cup races, but we’re going to Spain in a positive frame of mind.”
