Bulls need to be wary of early try threat

HEAD coach James Kerr will be looking for his Banbury Bulls side to be well prepared when they travel to Old Laurentians for Saturday’s Midlands Two West South fixture.

Bulls went out of the Oxon Knockout Cup on Friday night, going down 50-26 against Oxford University Greyhounds at Bodicote Park where four tries in the opening 15 minutes proved costly.

An early brace of tries from Sam Wareham and Will Boardman plus three conversions from Will Dace gave Bulls a tough challenge. But they responded with tries from Chris Phillips and James Heywood before David Cooper-Parry went over for the visitors.

Two tries from skipper Ed Phillips, converting the second himself, put Bulls bakc in it in the second half. But Greyhounds scored an opportunist try through Cooper-Parry, followed by two late scores from Ben Brooks and Phil Bell, with Dace adding two conversions, to end their fightback.
