Longsdon weighing up the options for Our Kaempfer

Our Kaempfer heads Charlie Longsdon's runners at Cheltenham but he has still to decide which race the eight-year-old goes for.

Our Kaempfer has attracted support for the Ultima Handicap Chase but it looks as though he will take the novice route and go for the RSA Novices Chase.

Our Kaempfer has won four of his 11 starts, the most recent at Kempton in January. He was fifth in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at last year’s Festival.

Longsdon said: “Our Kaempfer has an entry in the RSA Chase and the Ultima Handicap Chase. I’m still undecided about which race to go for although I’m slightly leaning towards the RSA because he’s still a novice and, potentially, it will be a smaller field.

“It’s a very open RSA this year, there is no stand-out three mile chaser, while in the Ultima you have to be very well handicapped and I’m not sure he will be. He wouldn’t be able to run in the novice race next year but he could run in the Ultima.”
