Adderbury cruise to facile first victory of the season

Adderbury recorded their first win in division two of the Oxford & District Bowls League beating Bicester 117-56 to take maximum points.

Phil Gladden’s rink of Steve Millard, Paul Jelfs and Mick Jelfs led the way with a 37-16 victory.

Ted Eley with George Sainsbury, Rod Head and Ian Dunn chipped in with a 30-12 triumph.

John Radley with Bryan Ogilvie, John Hermon and Cliff Hall won 25-12 and Chris Skidmore’s rink of Dave Allington, Nigel Eley and Pete Griffin coasted home 25-15.

Banbury Chestnuts lost 92-54 against Witney in division two.

Keith Buckle with Martyn Cooper, Norman Stringer and John Duncan lost 16-24 while Alan Wase with Dai Evans, Eric Hilton and Dave Woods lost 17-19.

Colin Taylor with Ricky Cox, Richard Morris and Brian Ray lost 13-23 and Lee Wilkinson with Pat Noonan, Brian Stonebridge and Ricky Marsden lost 8-26.

Banbury Central B lost 72-79 in division three against rivals Chipping Norton.

Tom McKenna with John Pardoe, Brian Collins and Bob Brown won 20-17 while Ron Cox with Bob Wilkins, Ray Puddle and John Bone came with a late surge and took four shots on the last end to clinch 23-22 win.

But Malcolm Leather with Bob Joiner, Ed Creed and Terry Ulph drew 16-16 while Keith Williams with Eric Trinder, Bob Rogers and Eric Knowles lost 13-24.

Bloxham lost 81-60 against Blackbird Leys in division four.

The winning Bloxham rink was led by Tony Gardner with Brian Smith, Rob Kearvell and Ray Hopkins who won 26-15.

Dave Morse with Chris Hall, John Nolan and Alan Miles lost 15-25, Jim Lucas with Ray Sopp, Des Jones and Alan Round went down 10-20 while John Stephens with John Elstob, Doug Woodward and Norman Hambidge lost 9-21.
