AJ Docherty will be going for a hat-trick of titles when the Oxon IBA finals conclude.

The Banbury Cross bowler won the singles on Monday and the next day won the pairs with Lee Wilkinson.

Docherty beat Oxford City & County BC’s Ade Kemish 21-20 in Monday’s singles at Chipping Norton BC.

The lead changed hands four times in the early exchanges with Docherty playing more consistently. But Kemish took an 11-10 lead after 13 ends before pulling clear to lead 18-11 after 19 ends.

Docherty began to find a better length and three ends later he was only two behind but holding a two to tie.

Another positive shot from Kemish with his last wood trailed the jack by a foot to make a two to go 20-16 up.

But, in what turned out to be the last two ends with Docherty again always next to the jack, Kemish could not convert his chances the way he had earlier.

With his last wood he was unable to draw or rest on Docherty’s back woods for the one shot he needed.

Docherty skipped Wilkinson to victory against Paul Sharman and Steve Aldren.

Docherty once again showed his skill in converting unpromising situations and tucking the jack away so that, increasingly, Sharman was forced to fire, killing ends on several occasions.

At 10-10 after 11 counting ends, Cross eased away to win 24-16.
