Banbury Central beat Banbury Borough on the last end to become Bowls Oxon Women’s Triples champions.

Central’s Pam Shepherd, Carole Galletly and Caroline Campion faced Borough’s Margaret Morris, Maureen Osbourne and Angie Ives in Sunday’s final.

The game was low scoring throughout before the last end saw Campion’s triple go three shots up. Ives could not convert the head, walking away with only two shots to crown Central the county champions.

Later, Galletly and Campion retained their Bowls Oxon Women’s Pairs title.

Shepherd teamed up with Annie Gilkes to play against Galletly and Campion in the pairs final.

After nine ends, Gilkes and Shepherd trailed 4–7. A six count to Galletly and Campion and a further three shots saw the pair go 16-4 ahead.

Gilkes and Shepherd replied with a two but Galletly and Campion went on to take a 25-6 lead after 15 ends. Gilkes and Shepherd were not done and pulled the score back to 26-17 but they ran out of ends.
