Banbury were left pointless from the weekend’s double-header in the South Club’s Women’s Hockey League.
Saturday’s 5-1 thumping by Brighton & Hove was followed by a closer 4-3 defeat against Epsom in Sunday’s division two fixture.
Epsom took the lead against the run of play but Banbury quickly responded with a neatly worked goal with Natasha Nunneley setting up Nicola Brown to slot home on her final game for before returning to Australia.
Epsom regained the lead but Banbury quickly got back on level terms through a penetrating strike by Victoria Coombs. Nunneley had a penalty-flick saved by the Epsom keeper.
But Epsom came out sharper in the second half and quickly scored from a short corner. On the front foot, Epsom soon increased their lead. Banbury reduced the arrears with a goal from Emily Hogg but they could not find the equaliser.
Sunday’s defeat came 24 hours after the 5-1 hammering by Brighton & Hove in which Aveline Cruikshank got their only goal.
