United hit back with a win

BANBURY United put Tuesday’s late defeat to Gosport Borough aside and came away from Hitchin Town with a 2-1 victory today (Saturday).

Wayne Blossom headed Edwin Stein’s side in front just before halftime but John Frendo equalised in the 74th minute despite Marvin Martin’s efforts to clear off the line.

United were to take the lead against the run of play though with ten minutes remaining, Scott Bridges being the quickest to react from a throw in and his cross was met by Adeyinka Talabi to score from close range.

For the full report and reaction see next week’s Banbury Guardian, out on Thursday.
