Stein’s squad will be boosted

BANBURY United boss Edwin Stein will be boosted by the return of three players for Saturday’s trip to Hitchin Town, where he will be hoping for his side to bounce back from Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Gosport Borough.

Jack Ashton, Warren Plowright and Marvin Martin are all available following their one-match suspensions for Saturday’s Evo-Stik League Southern clash and Stein will be looking for three precious premier division points following the setback at Gosport. New signing Albi Skendi made his debut at Gosport and Chris Lait could also feature if his move from Stratford Town goes through.

Looking back on Tuesday’s defeat, Stein added: “We dominated the game and could have been 4-0 up at halftime but our final ball in the last third wasn’t good enough.

“I was proud of the players for their performance after such a long lay-off and the display surpassed my expectations. Despite all the changes through suspensions the players produced a great performance.”
