Stein puts his faith in players

EDWIN Stein remains confident his Banbury United side can get back to winning ways following a couple of defeats on the bounce.

United entertain Bashley in Saturday’s Evo-Stik League Southern clash at Spencer Stadium, where the Puritans boss is hoping the return of Warren Plowright can boost his squad.

The midfielder missed both defeats – at Chesham United on Saturday and Cambridge City on Tuesday – but will be back to face Bashley.

Stein said: “Sometimes you don’t realise a player’s true value to the team until he’s not there and I think that’s the case with Warren [Plowright]. He makes it much easier for the back four when he’s playing and we missed him in the last two games.

“I know that’s two defeats after back-to-back wins. Winning is a habit and so is losing and we must not allow that to happen. But, apart from Saturday’s defensive display at Chesham, our performances have been consistent over the last few weeks and I’m sure we can bounce back on Saturday.”
