Standen bags a point for Sports

EASINGTON Sports boss Phil Lines saw his side produce an encouraging performance ahead of Saturday’s UHLSport Hellenic League trip to Woodley Town.

A fine second half display and good all round team performance saw Sports draw 1-1 with Headington Amateurs in Saturday’s premier division fixture at Addison Road, where they could have taken all three points but had to settle for one thanks to Carl Standen’s equaliser.

Sports found themselves quickly behind after just ten minutes when Shaun Jacobs set up Luke Cuff who outpaced the home defence to score. Standen equalised with a volley on the half hour mark, Pete Moulder set-up Andrew Stidder who was unable to finish and Ben Milner saw a header fly just past the post.

The second half was one-way traffic and if Sports had taken all their chances they would have ran out comfortable winners.
