Puritans look to blow away the Poppies

WITH the forecast predicting more snow for tomorrow (Friday) it looks as though Banbury United’s next fixture will more than likely be against Kettering Town on Tuesday.

The rearranged Evo-Stik League Southern fixture should go ahead if the thaw comes at the weekend and the Spencer Stadium pitch survives the inevitable flooding. United are due to make the trip to Chippenham Town for Saturday’s premier division clash but that game will surely be postponed.

Scott Bridges will be available following his three-match suspension, Ryan Plowright will have recovered from his illness and Kenzer Lee will have been helped by the enforced rest following his thigh strain which he sustained against Arlesey Town.

Central defensive partner George Allen will be available after missing the Arlesey game because he was required for Stevenage Borough.

United should have played the Poppies over the festive period but that game was postponed through a water-logged pitch at a time when the Northamptonshire side were enjoying a good run of form. Since then on-loan striker Lewis Wilson, who bagged seven goals in four games, has returned to his parent club Northampton Town.
