The Emirates FA Cup giant-killers head to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit looking to extend their impressive run.

But Saints boss Kevin Wilkin knows that, unlike the FA Cup ties with League One Gillingham, it will be his side who are the hot favourites this time at the Don Amott Arena.

But the premier division outfit, who sit in mid-table, have a couple of experienced players in their squad, one of them a familiar face with Saints’ fans.

Former Saints defender Pablo Mills, the ex-Derby County and Rotherham United player, is now with Mickleover, as is another experienced ex-pro Clinton Morrison, the former Crystal palace, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday striker.

And, in former Burton Albion midfielder John McGrath, Mickleover have a player-manager with plenty of experience off the field as well as on it.

Having knocked Evo-Stik Southern League leaders Leamington out in the first qualifying round and Trafford in the last round, Mickleover will be up for the challenge of putting one over their Vanarama National League North visitors.

Wilkin said: “It’s all about us having the right attitude and application, especially away from home. If we do, then I feel we will have enough to get through Saturday’s tie.

“But it will be a tough test, Mickleover are a good side, they proved that by winning at Leamington who are top of the Southern League. They’ve got some experienced players who know how to win games so we will not be taking them lightly.

“We’ve scored early in all our cup games this season and it’s important to take those chances when they come your way in these sort of ties.”
