Goals at crucial times from Sam Grant and Andrew Stidder saw Sports through to the next round after a 2-0 victory over Oxon Senior league high fliers Heyford Athletic.

Sports started brightly and scored from their first real attack. Craig Robinson beat the fullback before squaring a pass to Grant on the edge of the box and his first time shot flew into the top corner of the net.

Heyford played their part in an end-to-end first half and Jack Goode had to command his box well under pressure. Midway through the first half Josh Northam did well to control the ball and cut back inside the defender but his shot hit the post.

Sports doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime. A diagonal pass into the box was flicked on by Grant and Stidder headed the ball into the far corner of the net.

After the restart, Heyford went for a more direct approach but Sports dealt well with the threat. The game became more scrappy as a result and Heyford were reduced to ten men late on for a poor challenge.

Robinson had an effort disallowed for offside and Stidder saw his overhead kick go just go over the bar.
