There is a burning desire within this group of players to try and achieve something

Puritans boss Mike Ford

Manager Mike Ford was delighted with his side’s display and said: “There is a burning desire within this group of players to try and achieve something.

“I can’t turn up here now and say we can’t make the play-offs, of course we can. But that’s only because we keep winning games.

“We deserved to win the game, the performance was miles better than Saturday against Cirencester and we had all the chances. The attitude of the players was fantastic.

“We kept a clean sheet which was huge. We defended when we had to, again Jack Harding hasn’t had much to do apart from a deflection in the first half.

“We said at halftime that we need to win the second half because we haven’t won enough of them lately. We need to keep on improving and see games out better than we did on Tuesday.

“We showed a lot of quality on Tuesday. We looked a really good side, Tom Winters was a real threat and Zac McEachran was unplayable at times.”
