Easington Sports boss Phil Lines will be looking to make it three UHLSport Hellenic League wins on the spin to end the season at New College Swindon on Monday.
Andrew Stidder hit the winner as Sports came from behind to beat Tytherington Rocks 2-1 in Saturday’s Division On West clash at Addison Road.
Sports started well, Sam Grant shot at Adam Clark and Lewis Travers hit a free-kick over the bar before Stidder robbed a defender but shot wide with just the keeper to beat.
But Rocks rocked Sports by breaking the deadlock late in the first half from Lewis Bezer’s free-kick.
Lines made some positional changes at halftime, pushing returning central defender Ben Milner up front and that made the difference. The experienced Milner was a magnet for Sports’ attacking play and Rocks struggled to cope as the hosts stepped up a gear.
The equaliser came when Mike Spaull’s cross found Grant, his header was parried by Clark but Tom Smith was on hand to turn in the rebound from close range.
Sports looked for the winner, Milner fired across goal before he was impeded in the box and Stidder sent Clark the wrong way from the ensuing spot-kick.
Milner and Stidder missed good opportunities to make the points safe but Sports comfortably saw the game out.
