Ford happy with display despite latest setback

Despite seeing his side slip to a fourth defeat on the trot, Banbury United boss Mike Ford was much more satisfied with the display.

The Puritans lost 1-0 against Redditch United in Monday’s Evo-Stik Southern League clash but Ford said: “I thought it was a much better performance and told the players that sometimes things just don’t go for you.

“The goal was really unfortunate for James Fawke, he just played the ball a bit short, but he had a very good debut. Up to the goal, Jack Harding had only made one save, we had chances not just to equalise but to win the game.

“On another day we would have won it. We more solid at the back, we passed the ball with more purpose, created plenty of chances but didn’t take them and one mistake has cost us the game.”
