Diggin at the double for Saints
Brackley Town's Steve Diggin is challenged byBradford Park Avenue's Jamie Price
STEVE Diggin struck twice as Brackley Town made it back-to-back wins with a 3-1 victory over Bradford Park Avenue at St James Park.
All the goals came in the second half of Saturday’s Blue Square Bet North clash in which Saints squandered several good first half chances.
Alex Davidson missed a sitter for Avenue while Jefferson Louis headed just wide and Diggin was twice denied by keeper John Lamb who thwarted Tom Winters in between. Glenn Walker was also thwarted by Lamb and Diggin shot wide before the break.
But Saints finally got their noses in front in the 56th minute, Winters exchanged passes with Louis before pulling the ball back for Walker to score at the near post. Diggin doubled Saints’ advantage in the 78th minute, heading home at the far post from Winters’ deep cross, and grabbed his second goal three minutes later, cutting into the box before his shot beat Lamb via a deflection off Knowles.
Jordan Deacey reduced the arrears a minute later, exchanging pass with O’Brien before hitting a superb shot past Billy Turley.
