Title race will go to the wire

THE division three title race in the Banbury Indoor League will go down to the wire with Castlethorpe and Southam fighting it out on the final week.

Castlethorpe inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on leaders Southam, winning by seven runs in a thrilling fixture.

Nick Bell 25 and Dominic Spinelli 20 top scored as Castlethorpe were dismissed for 87 runs as Henry Wilkins took 2-15 and Joe Wigley picked up 2-48.

In reply, Toby Inskip made 15 and Wigley 28no led the way as Tahir Iqbal took 2-25 but Southam finished short of their target.

Deddington beat Marston by two wickets off the last ball of the match.

Owen Griffiths 26no and Matt Riddle 21 helped Marston to post 97-4. In reply, Marcus Fleming 33no and Paul Symonds 20no guided Deddington home, despite requiring a six off the last ball.

Great Tew A beat Wardington by five wickets. Kevin Jones 21 and Mike Williams 16 top scored as Deddington were dismissed for 90 runs and Alex Kelly took 2-14. In reply, Kelly 25no and Sam Barnes 24no saw Tew home in the eighth over.

Preston Capes A beat Hinton by four wickets. Richard Wills 24 and Shaun Gardner 21 helped Hinton to 88-6. In reply, Steve Nelligan 28no and Mark Daynes 23no saw Preston home.
