Three teams in contention

WITH one round to go, three teams are in with a chance of taking the division two title in the Banbury Indoor Cricket League.

Leaders Shipston have 107 points, one more than Broughton & North Newington and Cropredy A, while Hook Norton and Banbury A still have an outside chance of promotion.

Cropredy beat Shipston by 18 runs to close the gap on the leaders.

Ralph Orchard 32 and Tim Coggins 23no helped Cropredy to 125-5. In reply, Marcus Ireland 27no and Tom Cox 25no kept Shipston in contention but they fell well short in the end.

Broughton beat struggling Radway by four wickets. Sam Douthwaite 36no and Phil Douthwaite 26no helped Radway to 127-3. In reply, Tom Hill 27no and Jason Tillcock 27no saw Broughton home with nine balls to spare.

Hook Norton beat Banbury A by 18 runs. Tom Rothwell 27no and Dan Knight 18 top scored in Hooky’s 125-5 while Mark Pallettt took 2-29. In reply, Andy Stevens 48 and Pallett 16 top scored for Banbury who were dismissed in the ninth over as Adam Webb took 3-26.

Azad beat Charlbury A by 39 runs to keep them in the relegation zone. Basit Ahmed 33no, Fiyas Ahmed 26no and Ashah Shah 26no helped Azad to 150-2. In reply, Paul Adams 22 and Steve Hocks 22 top scored for Charlbury.
