Facing a daunting 300 plus target, Andy Harris’s side got home with little more than an over to spare in Saturday’s division one fixture at Ledwell Road where Dain Moreton completed a century and Curtly Slatter produced a match-winning performance.

Having been inserted by Harris, Harefield got off to a flying start with opener Jeet Raval 84 finding the runs with ease. Raval was joined by Jalpesh Vijay and the pair accelerated the score along to 153-3.

Vijay and Oliver Richards took the visitors on to 253-4 before Joe Thomas caught Vijay off Matt Clark for 117 which included 15 fours and six sixes. Richards 20, Poojan Vyas 32 and Dhavalkumar Norotam 25 helped Harefield to 319-9 at the close, while Lawrence Brock took 4-56.

In reply, Tew lost Joe White with 30 runs on the board but fellow opener Clark 47 and Moreton took the hosts on to 82-2. Moreton then took centre stage and when he was joined by Slatter the pair turned the game in Tew’s favour.

They took Tew on to 274-4 before Moreton went for 141 runs, which included 15 fours and six sixes off his 100 balls. The outcome was still in the balance but Slatter remained unbeaten on 90 runs off 72 balls which included seven fours and four sixes as he and Lloyd Brock saw Tew home in the penultimate over.
