Great & Little Tew entertain Counties Premier Cricket League pacesetters Finchampstead with captain Andy Harris looking to upset the leaders.
The Ledwell Road club returned from Harefield with 25 points valuable points from Saturday’s division one fixture to put breathing space between them and the other teams.
Jordan Garrett and Dain Moreton led the way as Harris saw his side win by six wickets at the basement boys.
Harris said: “There is more pressure on Finchampstead than us because it’s so tight at the top.
“The conditions suited Jandre Coetzee down there so I’m hoping we don’t have too much rain this week and we can play on a good, flat track.
“There are five games to go and we want to see how high we can get. We didn’t set a target when we came up except to stay up and consolidate.
“Reading and Harefield play each other so one team will take the 25 points, I’m just glad we got them on Saturday.”
Looking back on Saturday’s success, Harris added: “Harefield were scoring at four an over to start with before we pegged them back, 250 was about par on that wicket.
“It was pleasing to see our run chase. Dain Moreton has given us more consistency this time and has scored runs at vital times while Jordan Garrett looked a different class out there, he was dismissive of their best bowlers.”
