Cooling hits top score to boost Cropredy

PETER Cooling hit the top score on the opening night of the division two campaign in the Banbury Indoor League.

Cropredy A comfortably beat Broughton & North Newington by 43 runs with Cooling 43no and Tim Bennett 23 helping them to post 127-4.

In reply, Stuart Walton 18 and Stuart Morgan 11 were the only batsmen to make an impression as Cooling took 2-26 and Mark Twynham picked up 2-33 as Cropredy skittled Newington out.

Charlbury A just edged past Shipston-on-Stour, winning by five wickets but with only two balls to spare.

Marcus Ireland 38 and Jack Murphy 21 top scored as Shipston were dismissed for 96 runs. In reply, Tom Nash 25no and Richard Nash 17 steered Charlbury to victory in the final over.

Banbury A beat Azad by six wickets.

Azad were skittled out for 71 runs with Maz Iqbal 32 the only batsman to make double figures. In reply, Charlie Hill 25no and Keiron Scott 15no saw Banbury home with ease in the fifth over.

Radway beat Hook Norton by 14 runs.

Sam Douthwaite 27no and Adam Douthwaite 22no helped Radway to 129-2. In reply, Andrew Stanley 40no and Dan Knight 20 kept Hooky in contention until they fell short.
