THERE will be no repeat of last season's clash with a Premiership club after Banbury United were knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday.
United went out at the first hurdle at The Lamb, where Tamworth won 2-0 with a goal in either half.

United gave a good account of themselves against the young Conference North side and had the more clear-cut chances, especially in the first half.
But a spectacular goal in each half was enough to see the hosts through to the next round.

United's first chance arrived in the 21st minute when Stephan Morley corner saw Tom Breward his header cleared off the line and the rebound was put wide by Luke Bennett. But two minutes later Jake Sheridan unleashed a 25-yarder which flew over the startled Joe Murrell to give Tamworth the lead.

United almost equalised on the half hour mark when Matty Taylor robbed a defender, his fierce shot beat on-loan Villa keeper David Bevan from a narrow angle but also the far post. On the stroke of halftime, United went even closer when Nicky Gordon saw his shot defected off the post for a corner.

Tamworth controlled the second-half and should have increased their lead in the 51st minute when a point-blank header from Dean Lee was superbly tipped over by Murrell. But two minutes later Tamworth wrapped the tie up when a sweeping move ended with Lee Hildreth beating Murrell with a superb curling effort.

UTD: Murrell, Abbassi (Stringfellow 71), Morley, Essex, Bennett, Stanbridge (Pearman 87, Travers (Milner 84), Breward, Taylor, Gordon, Scott Bridges. Not used: Kinch,Stuart Bridges.
