BRACKLEY Town kicked off their pre-season friendlies with a creditable 0-0 draw with Northampton Town on Thursday.
League One Northampton started with a line-up that boasted nine who played in the first team last season, including recent signing from Leeds United Leon Constantine up front.
Both sides played some neat football in front of more than 600 fans on a pefect St James Pak pitch with Giles Coke pulling the strings in midfield for Cobblers, while former Northampton midfielder Dave Savage looked accustomed to his role at sweeper behind the impressive Josh Green for Saints.
Neither side managed to create any clear cut chances with respective keepers Richard Knight and Mark Bunn largely untroubled. But the pacey David Stone gave the Cobblers defence a few concerns on the break and substitute Joe Benjamin went close for Cobblers late on against his former club.
