RADIO Horton presenters reaped the rewards of several intensive training sessions when they beat Banbury United Supporters Club 4-2 in an annual fixture.
The match on Saturday, following United's final game of the season against Swindon Supermarine, saw Stewart Green's side come from behind to win with two late goals at Spencer Stadium.

Horton went ahead in the first half when striker Johnny Smith slotted home from inside the area.

Banbury United supporters responded with a spell of pressure and even won a penalty, which was saved by goalkeeper James Hulbert.

The resistance did not last long. Two goals in quick succession from Eddie Barson saw the tables turn in favour of the Supporters before a neat chip from Pete Gardner tied the scores 2-2 at half time.

It all looked to be heading for a draw until a late drive from the edge of the box by reporter Tom Gibbon gave Horton, who fielded four Banbury Guardian employees, the lead.

An inch-perfect injury-time free kick by Guardian sub-editor Stuart Kidman put the score beyond all doubt.

The Horton kit was sponsored by Dominos Pizza, in South Bar, and Banbury Town Mayor Kieron Mallon was among those who attended the match.

Radio Horton station manager Stewart Green said: "I was absolutely ecstatic. After losing on penalties last year it was great to win in style in the end."
