BANBURY Harrier Jacob Simmons took the local honours in the Banbury Five Road Race, which was won by Ryan McKinlay of Highgate Harriers.
The field of nearly 400 saw McKinlay win by four seconds in a time of 25 minutes 54 seconds.

Speed found the pace to secure second in front of Vernon O'Sullivan, with Damian Carr further back in fourth while 17-years-old Simmons crossed the line in an excellent tenth place.

Chris Noble was first Cherwell Runner home in 42nd place and David Warlow, of Hook Norton Harriers, came home in 79th.

The newly formed Brackley & District Running Club had several runners with Dave Cooper leading the way in 87th.

In the ladies race the leading four runners in the series battled against each other with Kirsty Gallagher of Wootton Road Runners taking the prize and 31st place overall.

Julie Dixon of Banbury Harriers finished eighth lady and 92nd overall after having a battle with the fastest over-60 runner in the UK, Angela Copson, of Rugby & Northampton. Samantha Rees of Hook Norton Harriers finished 191 of the 370 finishers.

There is a slideshow of pictures from the race on the video player on this page.
