THE new man in charge at Woodford United is Mark O'Callaghan, who takes over from Phil Mason at the Byfield Road club.
O'Callaghan steps up from director of football to take charge of the Southern League Division One Midlands outfit, who finished the season with a string of heavy defeats after the wage budget was cut.

Chairman Andy Worrall was delighted to give O'Callaghan his chance.

"We had a few people enquire about the position but we like to promote from within, Mark O'Callaghan was very positive in his interview with us and maintains continuity here," said Worrall.

"He had to work very hard for the last six months of the season and he knows it will be hard work next season. But we're not making up the numbers and both I and Mark expect the club to keep clear of the bottom half of the table. He knows the club well and what he has to work with."

O'Callaghan, who will be assisted by Paul Brassington, added: "Phil Mason did a fantastic job here and we wish him well. I'm under no illusions it's going to be a tough job and the club needs a good sort out."
