DAVID Bennett has stepped down as Banbury United chairman.
Bennett announced his decision at the club's AGM at Spencer Stadium on Wednesday evening.
"I always said that I would do it for three years when I took over and I've decided over the past few weeks that I would stick to that decision," said Bennet
t.
"I think it's time for a younger person to take over, particularly with the amount of time and effort that is going to be required with all that is going on concerning the future of the ground."
Bennett said that he and vice-president Paul Jones would continue to run the club for an interim period of three months until a new chairman is appointed. Bennett declined to comment on whether someone had been lined up to take over in the near future.
