Banbury United were frustrated in their bid to make it back-to-back wins at Spencer Stadium in the Zamaretto League stalemate with Chippenham Town.
But the point United picked up saw them close the gap on fifth-placed Bashley in the premier division following their defeat by Bedford.
United looked the likely winners in the second half and for much of the first, after Chippenham's initial prom
ising start. United created the better chances in each half and keeper Joe Murrell did not have shot to save in the second half.
Chippenham began brightly with some neat inter-passing but it was United who created the better openings. Ollie Stanbridge saw his close range short smothered by keeper Chris Snoddy after Declan Benjamin threaded him through. Snoddy almost paid for a sloppy clearance moments later but Jason Taylor was unable to punish him.
Greg Tindle had Chippenham's best chance, heading wide from a corner, while Adam Learoyd blasted wide after Joe Coleman's corner caused problems. Snoddy then denied David Stone with a point-blank after he was set up by the hard-working Benjamin but Scott Lye was just of target before the break.
United picked up from where they left off after the restart and the bets move of the match on the hour mark saw Stone exchange passes with Taylor only for Snoddy to tip over his shot. Benjamin then had a goalbound effort blocked by Tindle and Learoyd was thwarted in similar fashion by Alan Griffin as United sought the winner late on.
