A former multiple belt world boxing champion is getting behind the Save the Horton Campaign.
Former two weight champion of the world, Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, is getting behind the Horton campaign by tweeting a picture of himself along with a campaign t-shirt.
Mr Hatton, who held the IBF and WBA light-welterweight belts before moving up to welterweight to claim the WBA belt in that division, agreed to publicise the campaign after being approached by Banbury businessman Kevin Baker.
Mr Baker was born at the Horton and now works as a boxing promoter and manager with BWI promotions and currently manages the British ranked unbeaten no 11 heavyweight Kash Ali, trained by former world heavyweight champion ‘Terrible’ Tim Witherspoon.
The Hitman agreed to the photo at his Manchester boxing gym where he now trains and promotes a stable of fighters.
To further promote the Horton’s struggle Mr Baker is planning on rescheduling an evening with another former world boxing champion, Steve Collins, sometime in the near future.
