Newly-released artist’s impressions of the residential retirement home currently under construction on a site overlooking People’s Park in Banbury show an impressive entrance way to the four-storey building.
Park Gardens retirement home, a Bromford Homes development, will consist of 78 homes, a number of which with balconies overlooking the park, a central communal area, a café bar, lounge, activity studio, gym and hair and beauty salon.
Construction at the site started in December on ground that was previously home to Banbury and Bicester College’s motor mechanics and media facilities, which are now housed in their new £6m Broughton Road development.
The retirement home will be open exclusively to the over 55s with 55 of the units going onto the open market, 16 available to rent and seven with shared ownership options.
Penny Downing, Bromford’s sales and marketing director, said: “We’re delighted to be able to unveil our vision for Park Gardens; a modern and stylish development which is completely befitting of the local area and which we hope will create a vibrant and lively place for residents and the wider community to enjoy.
She added: “We’re lucky to secure such a brilliant site which, being so close to People’s Park and Banbury town centre, makes it an ideal place for anyone aged over 55 wanting to enjoy later life more.”
Completion of the Park Gardens site is scheduled for 2018. There will, however, be a show home built which will be open for viewing towards the end of the year.
Despite the location and previous use of the land, the construction of the retirement home poses no unique challenges and will be a traditional steel framed construction with between 20 and 90 tradesmen on the site at any given time.
