RESIDENTS are being reminded that Northamptonshire Police does not make cold calls or sell advertising following a number of suspicious phone calls.
There have been reports from people around the county who have received telephone calls from companies claiming to be selling advertising on behalf of Northamptonshire Police.

Some callers have also claimed that they are a crime prevention officer from the Force and want to discuss security.

Crime Prevention Officer Kate Wright thanked the people who had rung in to tell police about the suspicious calls but gave this reassurance: "Crime prevention officers never call anyone on the phone to discuss personal matters like security and we would never come to your door without an appointment either.

"No-one selling advertising or other products is calling on behalf of Northamptonshire Police and we would strongly advise that you don't give any personal or banking details to anyone you don't know on the phone."
