Conservatives hold on to their parliamentary seat but see its majority slashed.

Robert Courts won the seat with 17313 votes with the Liberal Democrat candidate Liz Leffman coming second with 11611 votes,

The by-election had been called after former Prime Minister David Cameron stepped down and it was a seat which they last held with a 20,000 vote lead.

The Lib Dems saw their voter share rise from just 7 per cent to 30 per cent cutting the conservative win to just 5702 votes.

Labour candidate Duncan Enright came third with 15 per cent of the vote, a slight decrease from the last election.
