A police officer from the Banbury Local Policing Team has urged residents in Drayton to be on their guard after an elderly woman was the victim of a distraction theft last Satruday.

PC Kevin Yeoman has raised awareness about the incident after the victim had her credit cards stolen after going shopping at Morrisons on Swan Close Road. She then went to Stratford Road, Drayton where she was approached by a woman and two men who asked for directions to the Horton Hospital. They stole her cards and withdrew a large amount of cash using her pin number.

PC Yeoman said: “Offenders have distracted and targeted an elderly victim. We believe they had followed her to the supermarket and discovered her pin when she used her cards. I would like to remind residents to be on their guard and remain extra vigilant when out shopping.

“It is very important to be careful when entering pin numbers into devices during transactions and ensure no-one around you is able to easily read your pin number.”

Anyone with information should call PC Yeoman on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
