Getting engaged has meant more than planning a wedding for Vikki Stretch and David Strangwood.

Their decision to make their partnership permanent was sealed in a bid to walk up the aisle a slimline couple.

The two have lost nearly 15 stone between them and are in line for a national Slimming World award with a prize holiday in Antigua.

“As soon as I accepted David’s proposal I started to worry about my size, wedding dresses and photos of our special day,” said Ms Stretch.

“After failing on lots of other diets in the past I gave Slimming World a try as I didn’t want to look like a giant marshmallow walking down the aisle at my wedding.”

Mr Strangwood was very supportive and joined his fiancee in her diet at their Withycome Drive, Banbury home, but after his weight loss started to slow down three stone down the line, he decided to become a Slimming World member with Ms Stretch.

Now she has lost more than eight stone and he has lost nearly seven, and the two are excitedly planning their perfect wedding and looking forward to having a family.

“We’re both really confident that the lifestyle changes we have made will continue and we’ll have a healthy and happy family life together,” she said.

“We enjoy walking and riding our bikes and making our favourite foods from scratch.” In their new clothes, the couple will attend the Slimming World couple of the year national finals on March 9.

If they win they will choose between £3,000 in cash or the holiday in
Antigua – a fitting honeymoon.

Their slimming instructor Shirley Warren said: “I am so proud of them both and look forward to supporting them maintain a fantastic weight loss.”
