DETERMINED hikers battled freezing conditions over the weekend for the return of the Tour de Trigs hiking challenge.

On Saturday 35 adult teams of three set off from The Warriner School in Bloxham to navigate a 50-mile course around the area.

With just 24 hours to complete the route, only 13 teams returned, led by Anne and Vaughan Wade of Coventry, and Geoff Holburt of Bolton of The Trailblazers team who took 16 hours and four minutes to finish.

First back for the 14 - 18-year-old junior teams were The Three Monkeez consisting of 16-year-old Harry Monk and 14-year-olds Luke Sexton and Jon Crawley. The trio, who all attend Blessed George Napier School, took 12 hours and 58 minutes to complete the 30 mile course and were among three of the five starting teams to finish.
