Teenager is victim of attempted abduction
A 13-YEAR-OLD girl had to run to the safety of a friend’s house after she was the victim of an attempted abduction yesterday (Wednesday).
At about 7pm, she was stood on Cawley Road in Twyford, near Banbury when a man in a dark coloured van drove past. He then turned around and came back, before opening his window and reaching out towards her with his arm.
The girl ran away down an alley leading from Rochester Way to Kemps Road, and the man got out of his vehicle and walked after her. He is described as black, about 40 years old, wearing a black hat and of a large build.
Detective Inspector Steve Raffield from Oxford force CID said: “This was a scary experience for the young girl. We want to hear from anyone who saw a dark coloured van, possibly green, in the area at the time.
“I also want to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are extremely rare and officers are out in the area today (Thursday), offering advice and reassurance.”
Anyone with information should call Mr Raffield on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
