Students raise voices for hospice

A SCHOOL choir has raised more than £1,000 for Katharine House Hospice by singing to shoppers.

Pupils at Blessed George Napier School in Banbury raised £1,186 for the Adderbury-based hospice by singing to customers at Tesco and Sainsbury’s in Banbury over the festive period.

Tim Wilson, head of expressive arts said: “We raise money for Katharine House Hospice every year and this is a record total. The fact the money was raised in two hours at Sainsbury’s and two hours at Tesco is a pretty monumental feat and proves how good the choir is.

“It is a terrific amount and helps the students to remember those less fortunate than themselves at Christmas.”

The Blessed George Napier School Youth Choir consists of about 80 students across Years Eight to 13.

The group also raised a further £600 towards the school’s sixth form pilgrimage to Lourdes by singing at a carol service at St John’s Church in Banbury.
