Students get new telescope

PUPILS at Sibford School can get a great view of the stars and planets thanks to a state-of-the-art new telescope.

The computerised Celestron NexStar 6SE Schmidt-Cassegrain Reflector model was bought using part of a cash donation of £45,000 given to the school, and will be used to enhance its current science provision.

Cath Harding, head of science, said: “The new telescope will be used to enable us to run astronomy workshops with our science students.

“It will provide them with a fantastic opportunity to observe stars, planets and deep-space objects using equipment that is not often found in schools.”

The telescope will be able to help locate planets and stars at the touch of a button.
